Welcome to my Practice!
Seeking psychological support can feel like a significant decision, and it might seem overwhelming at first. I’m here to make this process as smooth and comfortable for you as possible. Let me start by introducing myself and sharing a bit about my background. I specialize in providing trauma therapy in English and German, so that you can access therapy in the language you are more comfortable with.
I have been working as a counsellor and mental health therapist since 2003, serving in both non-profit organizations and private practice in Canada 🇨🇦 and Germany 🇩🇪.
After completing my Master’s degree in pedagogy, I initially specialized in family and systemic therapy. For several years, I worked extensively with children, youths, and families who had experienced traumatic events. Over time, it became clear that many of my clients’ challenges were linked to their traumatic past. This realization led me to deepen my involvement in trauma therapy, ultimately completing specialized training in this area.
As you can imagine, over more than 20 years of practice, I have encountered a wide range of psychological challenges. I feel fortunate that my professional journey has continuously offered new opportunities for learning and growth. As such, I am deeply grateful to my past and present clients for the experiences we have shared.
Specialization
As mentioned, over the years, my therapeutic focus has increasingly shifted towards treating trauma and trauma-related symptoms, leading me to specialize in this area. Consequently, in 2019, I became an EMDR Certified Therapist with the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).Â
While my professional approach is primarily trauma-focused, it is fundamentally person-centered. This means that I strive to support each client in their unique journey with curiosity and without judgment. And with my training and experience in EMDR Therapy, Family Therapy, Play Therapy, and Psychodrama, I am well-equipped to address a wide range of issues.
Anxiety Disorders, Attachment Disorders, Depression, Dissociation, Eating Disorders, Family and Relationship Problems, Impulse Control Disorder, Neglect, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Substance Use
Trauma Therapy in English and German
For evidence-based therapies like EMDR, adhering to protocols is crucial for therapeutic success. Having completed my psychological training and extensive experience as a counsellor in both Germany and Canada, I am well-versed in the various therapeutic protocols in both countries. This enables me to confidently offer trauma therapy in English and German, ensuring precise use of colloquial and technical terms and recognizing subtle linguistic nuances, all of which enhance the likelihood of successful outcomes.Â
In addition, I regularly attend conferences and advanced training seminars. Here you can find a comprehensive list of my ongoing education and qualifications.
Lastly, I also offer a free consultation prior to your first appointment to determine if my services are a good fit for you. Please contact me to arrange a 15 minute telephone or video consultation before booking your first session.
I look forward to meeting you!
